VMware Removes Course Requirement for Certifications

In May (2024) VMware announced a significant shift in its certification policy, candidates will no longer be required to complete an official training course to achieve certification. You can now become Certified by Exam Only!

This change opens up opportunities for IT professionals seeking VMware certifications, offering greater flexibility and accessibility in their professional development.

Historically, VMware required individuals pursuing certifications, such as the VMware Certified Professional (VCP), to complete a prerequisite training course. This was designed to ensure that candidates had a solid understanding of VMware technologies and best practices. While these courses provided valuable guided instruction, they also came with financial and time commitments that not all candidates could manage.

With the new policy, candidates can choose to prepare for exams through self-study, hands-on experience, or alternative learning resources.

In addition, VMware have also removed the prerequisite requirement to have achieved VMware Certified Professional (VCP) from its VMWare Certificated Advanced Professional (VCAP) certifications.

You can now attempt the Advanced Professional exams such as VCAP-Deploy or VCAP-Design without first obtaining the VCP certification.I
